Green Acres keeps it green with support for community spaces

Green Acres, the Valley Stream shopping mecca, is highlighting its continued commitment to the local community through two major sponsorships and a community cleanup event.

Aligning with Earth Month, the shopping center is supporting the environment with a $10,000 sponsorship of the Valley Stream Community Garden, a space for local residents to grow their own food and learn about sustainable practices. Green Acres serves as the biggest benefactor of this new garden.

Green Acres and the Village of Valley Stream will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Community Garden on Sunday, May 4  at 10 a.m.

Additionally, Green Acres contributed $5,000 to the Arlington Park Beautification Project, aimed at revitalizing one of the area’s cherished green spaces. The Arlington Park Beautification Project will begin its initiative with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 9 at 3 p.m.

Last week, Green Acres partnered with the Mill Brook Civic Association for a local cleanup of the Mill Brook’s Community Green Space on Flower Road, reinforcing the shopping center’s dedication to creating a sustainable, green neighborhood.

“For nearly 70 years, Green Acres has been a proud part of the Valley Stream community, and we are dedicated to giving back to the local area in meaningful ways,” said Jill Bromberg, marketing community relations manager of Green Acres. “Green spaces do more than beautify an area, they unite and encourage local residents to connect with one another while creating long lasting benefits for the environment. Through our sponsorships and cleanup efforts, Green Acres is committed to making Valley Stream a greener, more vibrant place for everyone.”
