Veterans and supporters honored at museum gala

More than 200 business leaders, elected officials and military veterans braved torrential rain to attend the Museum of American Armor holiday gala at Old Bethpage Village Restoration last week.

Among the many honorees feted at the event were developers Jan Burman and Steve Krieger, principals of Jericho-based Engel Burman Group, who were recognized for their company’s support of the museum.

Krieger was also presented with a wall-sized photo of his father taken during his military service in the Korean War.

Speakers at the event included Nassau County Executive Laura Curran, New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Nassau County Legislator Arnie Drucker. In addition, former National Security Advisor John Bolton sat for a Q&A with former News 12 anchor Drew Scott.

The 25,000-square-foot museum, which features several tanks and other military vehicles and memorabilia, serves as a center for education and remembrance of past international conflicts and the American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the nation.
