Sangria 71 opens third Long Island location

Sangria 71, a Spanish-style eatery with locations in Commack and Williston Park, has added a third location in Island Park.

A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1.

The newest Sangria 71 at 4585 Austin Blvd. in Island Park expands the chain owned and operated by brothers Jose and Rosendo Fernandez, who grew up in the restaurant business after emigrating here from Spain 41 years ago.

Rosendo ran Cafe Espanol on Carmine Street in Greenwich Village for several years and later opened Bamboleo, a Mexican restaurant in the same neighborhood, which has since closed. In 2010, both brothers partnered in a portable food concept called Paella To Go NYC, serving Spanish staples such as paellas, tortillas and empanadas at street fairs and festivals.

The Fernandez brothers opened their first Sangria 71 location in 2013.
