Students win energy conservation video contest
PSEG Long Island announced the winners of its annual I Am EM-Powered Energy Conservation Video Public Service Announcement Contest.
The 11 video winners were selected out of 273 videos that were submitted by students and teachers.
Over the past two and a half months, nearly 4,000 students in grades 4-8 across Long Island and the Rockaways engaged in PSEG Long Island’s I Am EM-Powered program. They learned concepts of conserving energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the benefits of renewable energy and tackling pollution – concepts they put into action in their video public service announcements.
“It’s great to see how these young learners are embracing the concepts of clean energy, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and tackling pollution. They are adding to the discussion about what we can do to protect and nurture our planet,” Michael Voltz, PSEG Long Island’s director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, said in a company statement. “Congratulations to the thousands of students who participated, and thank you to the teachers who brought the contest and coursework into their classrooms.”
