Schuckman Realty dishes out meals for the hungry

Lake Success-based commercial real estate brokerage Schuckman Realty spent a day giving back to the community at Masbia Soup Kitchen in Queens last week.

The Schuckman team volunteered their time on Thursday to help pack and distribute meals to Masbia’s clients.

“It was our honor to roll up our sleeves and help Masbia put together food packages and hand out to those in need,” Kenneth Schuckman, the company’s president, said in a statement.

Schuckman’s philanthropic character runs in the family. His father Stanley Schuckman, the firm’s founder, has been honored for his charitable efforts by the American Jewish Committee and The State of Israel Bonds.

Masbia Soup Kitchen opened in 2005 as Brooklyn’s first kosher soup kitchen and now serves over 2 million meals a year. According to the Department of Agriculture, over 1.2 million New Yorkers are food insecure, roughly 15% of the city’s population.
