Girl Scouts of Suffolk County to host inaugural “Tough Cookie” 5K run/walk at Camp Edey

The Girl Scouts of Suffolk County will host its first-ever “Tough Cookie” 5K Run & Family Fun Walk at Camp Edey in Bayport on Saturday, June 13.

The event will include a competitive 5K race beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a 1-mile untimed Family Fun Walk at 11 a.m. Family-friendly activities, including games, crafts, music, yoga, face painting and more, will run throughout the morning.

“This event is about bringing families and the community together while supporting opportunities that help girls build courage, confidence and character,” said Tammy Severino, president and CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. “Whether you’re running the 5K, participating in the family walk or simply coming out to enjoy the activities, everyone can play a role in creating experiences that empower girls, open doors to new opportunities and help them discover their full potential.”

Proceeds from the event will support Girl Scouts of Suffolk County programs, including leadership development, STEM education, entrepreneurship opportunities, scholarships, outdoor adventure experiences and camp programming for girls throughout Suffolk County.
