Long Island veteran wins free groceries for a year

Billy Berigold of West Babylon is the Long Island winner of Lidl’s “Free Groceries For A Year” giveaway.

A military veteran who is currently unemployed, Berigold will receive a $500 Lidl gift card every month for a total of $6,000 in gift cards towards groceries through Jan. 2024.

“It’s just awesome,” Berigold said in a company statement. “I still can’t believe I won.”

Berigold was one of three Lidl winners in the region, with the two other winners in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
