Long Island malls host back-to-school denim drives

Three Long Island malls will be hosting back-to-school denim collection drives this month.

Called “Do Good with Denim,” customers are urged to donate denim clothing to be recycled in an effort to support sustainability and positively impact the community.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, August 27 from noon to 3 p.m., will be held at Roosevelt Field in Garden City, Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station and Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove.

The denim drives at the malls are in collaboration with Green Drop and Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island.

When people bring items to Green Drop, the donated items will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island Donation Center. People who bring items will be emailed a tax receipt from the charity.
